Governor Quinn is trying to warm up the state to “deal” with the state’s pension problems. While the video is presented with seemingly little bias, one has to fear the angle that the whole campaign of thisismyillinois.com is taking to blame the employees.

Unfortunately, we are in this mess (as a state) because the politicians raided the funds previously to pay for other things when budget shortfalls hit. Then some time after a payback plan was put in place, the politicians decided to take a “holiday” from paying those bills. You can see what happened in 1989 with a previous pension “fixing” session.

US Senator Mark Kirk has given his second video update to the people of Illinois after suffering a stroke in January. He is physically improving and walking more, continuing work with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago as an out-patient. He is also active working with Illinois’ Senator Durbin on the nomination of a US Attorney General for the Northern Illinois District.
