Archives For Superheroes

Hot Wheels is making good use of the DC Universe license to create all sorts of vehicles. Sure, there’s the Batmobile and even the Arrow Car but beyond that, Hot Wheels has to be pretty creative to come up up with vehicles for Superman, Catwoman, Green Lantern, Bane, Joker, and Wonder Woman (not an invisible jet). Beyond that, Hot Wheels also has a series of cars based on Batman movies like the Tumbler and previous Batmobiles. I’ll keep my eyes open for a 1989 Batmobile or perhaps I’ll wait until Q2 2013 when Hot Toys puts out their Batmobile.

Bizarro Classic

This video features Bizarro of Superman’s Rogues Gallery. It is animated in the same traditional style as the Superman Classic clip shared previously by the same animator, Robb Pratt.

These would be some awesome shorts in the DC Nation animation block on Cartoon Network, if not a full series.

I’ve been waiting for this since I got an Android phone. comiXology, the free app that enables the purchase and reading of digital comics from major publishers, has come to the Android Market. DC, Image, Dynamite, BOOM! Studios, and Archie are included but for some reason Marvel is not despite being included on the iOS version of the app.

Get it here.

Justice League and JLU have set the bar pretty darn high as far as animated team-based superheroes go and Avengers doesn’t look anywhere near as good but here’s to hoping it turns out to be a decent show. I mean, you don’t have much of a choice when they cancel quality and successful toons like Spectacular Spider-Man and Wolverine and the X-Men.

These promo posters are new…

avengers2 The Avengers Earths Mighties Heroes! Toon Promo

Seeing the two posters side-by-side, it’s funny to me that Captain America and Thor are in the exact same poses. In the second poster Cap is slid down and more characters are added. “Hold that pose!” The more I looked at it though, the more I realized that the physics of the poster are messed up. Captain America’s left-hand is swept across his body as if he’s about to throw the shield. Instead the shield is flying away from him in an impossible motion. His hand should either be fully extended (pointing towards us) as if he just threw it or the shield should be coming from the other side as if he threw some kind of forehand frisbee toss.
