In what one can only hope to be an infectious case of common sense, the state of Maine has passed legislation that allows one-armed individuals to carry a switchblade so they aren’t forced to open a knife with their teeth (or not open it at all) in an emergency. The blades of these spring-loaded knives will still have to be three inches or shorter.
Maine lawmakers on Wednesday approved legalizing switchblades for people with one arm, moving close to becoming the first state to make such an exception to laws that ban use of the spring-action knives.
